What was it like running your first Euro VK? Awesome! The atmosphere was electric and you knew you were in for some hurt! The course is brilliant.
How did you prepare for it in the final few days? I hiked the course 3 days out (glad I did!)t hen just 2 easy runs with short efforts & strides to taper.
How does the racing here differ from what you’ve seen/done before?Well in the vertical racing it’s numbers who do it. 400 runners & sold out. It’s more respected here too.
What went right and what went wrong for you in the race? I was happy to not go out too hard with excitement but was probably a bit too conservative in the first half. Felt strong in the second half and went for it real hard through the technical climbing & that cost me a bit in the finishing section.
What’s next on your agenda? Some hard training on a VK course in Morgex, Italy then racing the VK IN Val d’Isere on July 8th.
